Check Your Feet Daily
Many people with diabetes lose feeling in their feet. This can lead to sores that don't heal and possibly amputations.

- Check your feet every night before bed (tops, bottoms, and between your toes).
- If you notice any cuts or sores, let us know right away.
- Keep your feet clean. Dry between your toes after washing.
- Keep your toenails clean and trimmed.
- Always wear shoes and socks.
- Check your shoes for small rocks or dirt.
- Get a foot exam with a medical provider once a year. Let us know if you need help scheduling this.
Watch Your Blood Pressure
Having high blood pressure (hypertension) increases your risk for heart problems, like heart attack and stroke.

- Follow these steps.
- If you have high blood pressure or are taking medication for it, check your blood pressure 1 to 2 times per week.
- If you've never had high blood pressure, check it every few months.
- Reach out if your blood pressure is consistently above 130/85 (either number).
Create Healthy Habits
These small changes can help you feel better and make it easier to manage your diabetes.
- Limit alcohol and caffeine.
- Stay active by moving every 30 minutes and exercising regularly. Read more here.
- Do your best to quit smoking. Need help? Just ask!
- Avoid being around secondhand smoke too often.
- Brush your teeth twice per day.
- Monitor your blood sugar as instructed by Galileo or your diabetes provider.
